ABB:ABB joins Sauber Engineering as Global Technology Partner

ABB hasjoined the motorsport and automotive specialist Sauber Engineering AG – acompany of Sauber Group – as an Official Global Technology Partner. Thepartnership will focus on leveraging e-mobility and carbon neutral developmentprojects.

Under the partnership, ABB will install a state-of-the-art EV Charging Stationat Sauber’s headquarters in Hinwil, Switzerland, providing the latest infast-charging battery technology to the growing number of electric vehicleusers in the company. The charging station will be powered by the photovoltaicfield already installed over the Sauber headquarters’ parking lot – currentlyone of the largest in Switzerland.

SauberGroup already has a long-standing technical relationship with ABB, whosefrequency converter controls fan speed in Sauber Aerodynamik’s wind tunnel –the state-of-the-art wind tunnel used to develop all the Formula OneTM cars ofSauber Motorsport. Further technical collaborations at Sauber Group’s modernproduction facility are envisaged using a range of ABB technologies.

Bothcompanies will use the new partnership to further their own sustainabilitygoals – ABB with its Mission to Zeroinitiative and Sauber Group with its own drive to reduce carbon emissions andincrease energy efficiency in all areas of its operation.
