Recently, Liu Zhenya, Chairman of GEIDCO, Chairman of China Electricity Council (CEC), and Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA), met with Jin Liqun, President of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (hereinafter referred to as “AIIB”). Revolving around accelerating the GEI and clean energy development, the two parties had an in-depth discussion and reached a consensus that GEI offers a fundamental solution to global resource shortage, environment pollution, climate change, people without access to electricity and other pressing challenges.It is of great significance for humankind to reduce the dependence on fossil energy and achieve green, low-carbon and sustainable development.
Both parties agree that, the development of GEI entails joint cooperation and concerted effort of international organizations, governmental departments, enterprises, institutions and other fields. The two parties would like to foster result-oriented partnerships on greenenergy development, infrastructureinvestment and other aspects, in a bid to develop GEI in a better and faster way.
AIIB is a multi-lateral development-centered financial institutionwith a mission to advance construction connectivity and economic integration in Asian region and enhance cooperation between China and other Asian countries and regions.Founded in December 2015 in Beijing with an authorized capital of USD 100 billion, AIIB is the first of its kind initiated by China, and co-built and led by Asian developing countries. At present, it has grown to 89 approved members.
