Liu Zhenya met with Raymond Chan

Recently, Liu Zhenya, Chairman of Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO) met with Raymond Chan, co-founder of Canadian International Strategic Partnership Research Center, who served as the Secretary of State for the Asia-Pacific Region for the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Canada and the Minister of State (Multiculturalism) for the Department of Heritage of Canada before. They deeply exchanged views on promoting the construction and development of Global Energy Interconnection, strengthening scientific and technological innovation and communication, and pushing forward bilateral cooperation in the field of energy and electric power.

Liu Zhenya thanked Raymond Chan for his support on the development of China electric power and the business of Global Energy Interconnection. Liu said that constructing Global Energy Interconnection and implementing “two alternatives” are fundamental ways to achieve the sustainable development. Constructing Global Energy Interconnection can achieve the global optimal allocation and large-scale development and utilization of clean energy. In addition, it can solve the sustainable and environmental problem of fossil energy, help to deal with climate change, and make the world a bright, peaceful and harmonious global village with sufficient energy, blue sky and green land. Finally, Chairman Liu pointed out that Global Energy Interconnection has now entered the stage of strategic implementation and he hoped that all parties would jointly promote the innovative development of Global Energy Interconnection. Chairman Liu Zhenya also presented the English version of "Ultra-High Voltage AC/DC Grids" and "Global Energy Interconnection" to Raymond Chan.

Raymond Chan showed his admiration on China's rapid development and remarkable achievements in the field of electric power, highly appreciated China's leading position in the field of UHV AC/DC transmission and great idea of Global Energy Interconnection, and expressed his sincere respect to Chairman Liu's leading role and great contributions to the development of China's electric power. Chan thought that Global Energy Interconnection with the ultra-high voltage power grid as the backbone network would represent China and improve the influence of this country. He hoped to strengthen communication and cooperation with GEIDCO and draw lessons from experiences and ideas of the innovative development of China's electric power to promote deep cooperation between two countries on infrastructure, scientific and technological innovation, electric power and other fields, in order to achieve win-win development.

Before the meeting, Raymond Chan and the delegation he led visited exhibition center of Global Energy Interconnection and National Power Dispatching and Control Center.
