Secretary General Wang Yimin Attends China Electricity Valley Smart Energy International Summit and Delivers a Speech

On April 28, themed by “energy interconnecting & intelligence sharing”, the China Electricity Valley Smart Energy International Summit kicked off in Baoding City, Hebei Province. The summit was held to discuss over the new opportunities facing industries including energy internet, new energy and renewable energy. Ma Yufeng, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Baoding; Lee Hae-Chan, former Prime Minister of South Korea; Yang Kun, Executive Vice President of China Electricity Council delivered opening remarks. Wang Yimin, Secretary General of Global Energy Interconnection Development Cooperation and Organization, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.    

According to the speech addressed by Wang Yimin, it is the only way to achieve energy transformation and sustainable development by building global energy interconnection and pushing forward the new pattern of clean-energy-dominated, electric-power-centered, and globally-distributed energy development. At present, the requirements for establishing Global Energy Interconnection have been met. With the goal of creating an international organization with global implications, the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization will stick to the tenet of “pushing forward the establishment of Global Energy Interconnection, and meeting the global power demand with clean and green alternatives”. Great efforts will be made to develop a global energy interconnection development cooperation platform featuring joint consultation, co-construction and sharing, and to pool more wisdom and power of enterprises, institutions, universities, industrial organizations and the public, so as to accelerate the establishment of Global Energy Interconnection.    

Wang Yimin appealed to people from all walks of life to join hands in promoting the innovative development of Global Energy Interconnection, and to achieve the goal of “tackling climate change” and UN’s “Sustainable Energy for All” Initiative, and to make positive contributions in serving social sustainable development.    

       In addition, Liu Jizhen, President of North China Electric Power University and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; Gustav R. Grob, Chairman of International Clean Energy Consortium (ICEC) and main leaders of Zhongguancun Development Group were also invited to attend the opening ceremony and deliver speeches.
